Milan is a media network protocol based on open standards. The foundation of the network layer is not legacy Ethernet but AVB Time Sensitive Networking, making Milan ideal for the Pro AV industry. The key idea of AVB is to improve Ethernet itself to become capable of real-time traffic. In order to define a solution layer for AVB, the AVNU alliance and its members defined the new, open standards protocol Milan.
